Taken Out of School because of Bullying |
We found some interesting stats today about how bullying is seriously
affecting school life. A survey of local authorities in England found
bullying was among the most common reasons for parents taking their
children out of school.
Research showed more than 17,000 school age children were now taught at home.
Apparently, as many as one-in-seven of those were pulled out because
parents feared sons and daughters were threatened by other children.
Being taken out of school can affect your school grades and your future plans if you want to go to college or Uni in the future.
This is why we all need to prevent this from happening, to ourselves
and to our classmates. What can we do to prevent friends and classmates
from being taken out of school? Or, have you skipped school before
because of Bullying?

Bullied because of their Faith |
We have just read a news report today about how puplis at a North
London school have been bullied on their school bus about their faith.
As a result, their parents have organised a private bus to take them to
school. This is very sad and means that they probably feel very
isolated from their classmates. Their parents feel that this is the
only solution, though.
Have you, or has anybody you know been bullied because of their faith?
How do you think we can prevent this from happening and how do you
think you could help a classmate if you saw this from happening on your
school bus?
Read about the story here http://tinyurl.com/5869ud or you can check out a survey we recently carried out asking young people their attitudes and experiences about being bullied because of their religous beliefs here.

Hanging out online is good for us! |
|
Playing games online and chilling out on social networking sites is good for us! A research team from the US tracked more than 800 young people over three years and looked at their behaviour online.
The report knocks on the head the stereotypical view of most parents and teachers that such activities are a complete waste of time and even bad for us.
"They are learning the technological skills and literacy needed for the contemporary world," said the report's author, Dr Mimi Ito.
"They are learning how to communicate online, craft a public identity, create a home page, post links. All these things were regarded as sophisticated 10 years ago but young people today take them for granted," Dr Ito told the BBC.
So what are you liking online? Do you blog? We know you use social networking sites because you tell us and you're using this site too, but what about Twitter and social bookmarking? Tell us what you like doing.
