Beatbullying on Panorama tonight to discuss Sexual Bullying
In
the Summer of 2007, the Government released figures which showed 3,500
school exclusions were a result of sexual misconduct-that equates to 19
exclusions per school day. Sexual bullying is an issue that young
people are acutely aware of, and Beatbullying provides workshops where
young people are invited to discuss this subject with their peers.
Beatbullying invited Panorama to film one of these very successful
sexual bullying workshops, where young people can discuss the issue of
healthy and unhealthy with their peers as well as developing ways and
strategies to tackle it.
We at Beatbullying believe that it is only through understanding what
the problem is, and what is actually happening between young people,
that we can address this issue and encourage our young people to think
about how they can put a stop to it safely .Our workshops do this by
raising awareness of the problem, creating safety plans, and offering
support and advice for those that need it.
Have you or has anyone you know been the victim of sexual bullying? Do
you think it is more difficult to talk about because it is a taboo
subject and do you think these workshops would help?
A BBC survey has revealed that kids who succeed in the
11-plus exam and then go to grammar school usually do so with the help of paid
tutors. Some say this is unfair as only kids whose parents can afford expensive
tutoring are likely to succeed in passing the 11-plus.
In a BBC survey, 450 out of 550 parents said that they paid
for tutors or had helped their children at home to prepare for the test. Some
people in charge of schools say that parents give their kids extra help.
Is this unfair? Do you think the 11 –plus should be scrapped
or do you think it is a good way of getting a better education? Do you think
that it puts you under unnecessary pressure? Read the full story here.
