It's all about keeping safe, wherever you are, whatever you're doing, whether you're: On the streetBe aware of your surroundings when you are out especially if in an area which you are not familiar with. Keep all personal belongings like MP3 player, phone and iPod hidden away in your clothing. If you're on public transport on your own, sit downstairs close to the driver on a bus, if on a train make sure that you are in a carriage with other people. If you feel uneasy about anything going on around you, remove yourself from the situation by changing seat or even getting off at the next stop. *Always* let somebody know where you are going - tell your parents, guardians, friends. If conflict is happening, move away from the area, go into a shop, police station or café - anywhere where there are people around you. Look for an adult, perhaps a CPO, shopkeeper, or an adult with young people. Don’t be afraid to ask for help if you feel threatened by someone or something. You can always explain what is going on and ask if you can phone someone to pick you up or perhaps use your own phone if you have it with you. Stay in a busy area and do not go off with anyone!! Wait for someone you know to collect, or meet you. Try and travel with friends rather than on your own. In schoolAvoid areas where you can’t be seen by members of staff, like the toilets, changing rooms, little places where the smokers hang out. Move to lessons quickly and don’t wander around following others. Travel to and from school with friends that are going the same way. If you know there are problems on a certain route to school or home, go a different way! Stay away from trouble, if you witness, or get a feeling that others are up to no good, remove yourself from the situation! Make some excuse if you have to! Don't be afraid to just LEAVE. If someone is making your life a misery by bullying you or just being annoying TELL SOMEONE!! No one can help you unless you let them know what is going on. OnlineNever give out any personal details online. Never arrange to meet people that you only know online. If you do meet someone take a friend with you, sometimes people are not who they say they are! Keep any messages that you feel are threatening or abusive for evidence. Block and report any abuse online.
